Mark’s Market Update

Although I have helped clients buy and sell homes from
Squamish to Chilliwack, my bread and butter has always been Maple Ridge. So, this week’s article is going to focus on what has happened in the Maple Ridge housing market over the past 12 months. Just FYI, I took a quick look at surrounding communities and the graphs all tell a similar story.

The greatest upswing in prices was felt in detached homes with a 12.2% increase in the Housing Price Index versus a 4.5% increase for
townhouses and 6.2% bump for apartments. In fact, it has been easier to sell detached properties over $900,000 than it has been to sell apartments under $500,000. Record low interest rates are helping, and maybe, with Covid, people can’t travel…so they move?? Who knows what is driving the demand, but there is clearly more demand than properties available right now, so it is looking good for 2021!

Let me know if there is any way I can help you. If you are thinking of selling, check out the article below about the 15 updates you can do to help get more money for your home.
